OpenCode and DeepSeek on my Obsidian vault

Just for fun, I’ve been tinkering with a new setup for a project: OpenCode plus the DeepSeek API, connected straight to my Obsidian vault.

First impression: it’s really good. It’s definitely going to become my new daily workflow for brainstorming and thinking, for when Claude hits its limit, haha.

It started because I was looking for an alternative to Codex and Antigravity. I needed an AI that could read local folders, so it’d be easy to talk through my Obsidian notes with it.

Then I found OpenCode. The tool is free; you just plug in your own API. So I paired it with DeepSeek. It’s a really powerful setup that’s still easy on the wallet.

The price surprised me. I topped up just $2 to try it, and one reasoning request only took $0.01 (around Rp 160). It’s worth trying if you like tinkering with a second brain.

It’s been so much fun that I’m also learning to build a module for implementing a Hermes agent. It’s really easy: press the + button, create a new local folder, and then you just prompt.

The module’s already done. Looks like it’s going to be my main tool.
